Departure from: Lisbon (your city center hotel).
Situated on the right bank of the Douro river , near the mouth of the river, Porto is a city with a unique charm where the old one blends perfectly with the contemporary, cosmopolitan and intimate city at the same time.
On the right shore of Douro River, lies Porto, a metropolitan city with a charm of its very own, where the old buildings touch the new constructions, in a perfect combination, making it a cosmopolitan and intimate city.
Classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO thanks to its beautiful monuments and historic buildings, our tour begins at the city’s ex libris, the Clerigos Tower (the highest of its kind in the country), dating back to the Baroque style – which dominates the old center of the city.
Close by, we find the renowned Livraria Lello, one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world, thus being an almost mandatory stop through our tour.
The main avenue is called Avenida dos Aliados and its buildings count with a sumptuous architecture.
On the most western point, we find the City Hall and Santa Catarina’s street, a point of local commerce, with its Magestic Café, one of the most beautiful in the country, built back in 1921 and one of the most glamorous places of the city.
The imposing Cathedral is also one of the most visited places. Its construction ended on the 13th century and it has beautiful carvings, paintings, sculptures, treasures of sacred art and a Romanesque rose window is one you can not miss.
Down to the river, we reach the Ribeira quartier, an emblematic place of the city, where we find the narrowest streets and medieval buildings and from where we see Vila Nova de Gaia, on the other side of the river.
Vila Nova de Gaia is the house of wine cellars and the famous Caves of Port Wine. Here, you can taste it while you admire the typical Rebelo Boats which used to transport people from its production site, Alto Douro Vinhateiro.
On the left bank of the river, we can still find the Monastery of Serra do Pilar, a World Heritage Site since 1996 and, with no shadow of a doubt, the place that offers us the best view over this amazing city.
